  • To Me

Get off your toes baby girl,
Every inch you got on the ground.
    Stability & connection to Mother
You don’t need to reach up to be taller.
You’re a star, just as you are.
    Feet planted.

    Keep tumbling, little lady –
Don’t ever stop stretching and moving that machine.
She is blessed and needs to express.
    Nothing stops her but her.
    Why me?! Well, why indeed?

Hey, the eyes see deeper than most
And people are drawn to the blue.
As a superpower, you tend and let flower
And stay true to the essence of you.
Wide open, your eyes & your heart, now.
You are in control of all of the hues.
    So paint.

Waiting isn’t easy when we suffer.
In Peace, waiting can feel free –
    Permission to play, to buffer
Waiting for one thing is when
We live all the other –
    Remember to Be Here Now.
    Just be.

    Received.

  • The Water Falls

    The Water Falls

    Into my cup
    My body ready
    To receive it all
    Embodied
    Overflowing
    I share out
    Isn’t this
    What life’s about

    My fear of falling
    Into doubt
    Unnecessary
    Of running out
    The flow is not
    What I do at all
    It’s there to raise me
    When I fall

    I swim in love
    Surrounding me
    Inside me flowing
    Out from me
    I walk on legs
    But legs propelled
    In water falling
    I am held

  • Worries’ Daughter

    Worries’ Daughter

I knew your mom a little
And your dad a little more
I was placed with the Farmers
as a volunteer; He was to be my
    Supervisor.

You knew them both much better, to be sure.
I just wanted you to know these things
I have kept with me, in my heart

Precious memories and the impressions made on me
of their passion, resilience, and pride

A woman’s love may be like a deep well,
but your Mama loved your Daddy
Down the well and back up to Heaven.
    They made fire between them,
Some kind of magic when you live apart!
Worries was smitten around her –
    Maybe that’s why.

I remember the night his house burned –
    We all stood there, watching
The world seemed dark & dangerous at that time.
Worries lived with friends until rebuilding.
    Of course.

    They mooned over you.
Told me all your news and favorites.
Their pride & joy making her mark
    in the big world
    Talk about a love child.

You came from two of the best, Venece.
You can call me your Auntie Jess.
I have so much gratitude for knowing your family at all.
You’re a star, shining love and light
    From wherever you are.

  • a binary rhyme

    a binary rhyme

Don’t be hurried, but get things done.
Assert your own opinions but don’t hurt anyone.
A citrus-scented candle covers another smell in the room.
    Elegant doom.

You start collecting friends like on a charm bracelet.
And then you grow apart or you just simply forget.
After decades of connections pushed away I regret
Not making more of an effort.

Man & woman start from one little cell
Girls and boys come up learning full well
There’s an accepted way to show up here
And if that’s not you, better persevere

Two sides of a coin, you’re guilty or innocent
Black & white, wrong or right, she knows it don’t make sense
She buys it anyway, hoping for a distraction,
    Some action.

See it’s coming for you like you haven’t been poking around
I know you hear that train a coming cuz I’m hearing the sound
If you want to know the truth and you need to be free
    Embrace the harmony.

[I later composted fresh produce to an outside the house location, took out the trash, swept, mopped, and vacuumed. Not willing to dust today. Anyway, I hope that’s taken full care of the smell.]
